Payroll Processor

Primary Job Duties and Job Responsibilities:

· Employment verifications, including the New York State Department of labor inquiries;

· Configuring payroll transactions that are received from personnel daily;

· Inputs payroll into Senate Financial Management System (SFMS);

· Reviewing output transactions for proper codes for files;

· Inputs payroll into “Payserv” as needed;

· Reviews check registers biweekly for payroll changes;

· Reconciles checks for mailing or check box biweekly;

· Fielding telephone calls; and,

· Various general office duties

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience, and Certifications)

  • Minimum two years experience in a payroll environment processing Agency related multi-entity payrolls with medium to large company/employee base.
  • Must possess strong PC skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • High school diploma required, 2-year degree preferred.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)

  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Established organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks & work under deadlines.
  • Display strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Have a high energy level and desire to succeed in a business environment

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)

  • Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. In addition, new alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.
  • A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on a routine basis.
