About the Internship Experience:
As a NYSTEC intern, you will work with internal and external clients under the direction of an assigned mentor. Interns will learn and grow internal services core competencies, such as knowledge and application, complexity and problem solving, and collaboration and interaction.
As an intern in the Corporate Information Security department, you will help drive many NYSTEC projects forward, such as policy and procedure development and user access reviews.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively share information that will make colleagues more successful.
- Learn and use appropriate NYSTEC tools and processes.
- Participate in internal and/or client-facing meetings and prepare reports and presentations.
- Demonstrate the NYSTEC Core Values and Behaviors.
The NYSTEC Internship Program for Summer 2023 will run from May 15 August 11, during normal business hours (8 am 5 pm). Specific hours can be negotiated based on the intern's availability.
Pay rates are as follows:
- Undergraduate students: $22.00/hour
- Graduate students: $24.00/hour.
About You:
Required Qualifications
- Proficient in a Windows operating environment using email, internet programs and Microsoft Office applications.
- A basic knowledge of security best practices across multiple platforms (Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office365, Cisco IOS, etc.).
- Comfortable working under general supervision, receiving minimal instruction for new assignments and exercising high initiative and discretion in completing tasks.
- Ability to problem solve complex assignments requiring research and analysis.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communications, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop key relationships with colleagues and clients through collaborative thinking and a strong customer focus.
- Must be well organized, a good team player, and able to work well under pressure.
Preferred Qualification

Completed at least two years of an undergraduate program in cybersecurity or a related major.
