Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director- Clinical Operations, Cancer Centers.
In this role, the successful candidate To administer and coordinate clinical services operations at the Cancer Centers ensuring that highquality safe care is provided and maintained by health care professionals within assigneddepartments. To provide leadership, professional development, problem identification resolutionand direction to clinical managers and staff while working to implement the goals and strategicplans of the Cancer Center and partner Hospitals.These services further the vision of Perlmutter Cancer Center to create unique environments, wherepatients, their families, doctors and staff come together to achieve longer and better lives in thefight against cancer
Job Responsibilities:
- Departmental/Functional Direction and Management: Provides leadership and direction for clinically related departments and programs and effectively delegates management authority to department directors/managers to ensure safe and effective patient care, operational efficiency, appropriate staffing and professional competency. Provides mentoring and coaching, and serves as a role model for effective management principles. Establishes and maintains effective communications with the Cancer Center management team, staff, medical staff, Hospital and community at large, and acts within scope of authority in decision, seeking input and guidance where necessary. Directs the development and implementation of policies and procedures for departmental operations in association with department directors and managers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- DECISION MAKING RESPONSIBILITIES: To make the decisions necessary to implement quality cost effective clinical oncology services. To recommend the hire and/or termination of personnel. To recommend purchase equipment/services. To provide or limit services within legal, moral and ethical guidelines.
- MAJOR CHALLENGES: To provide high quality safe patient care in a rapidly changing and challenging health careenvironment.To provide quality care by competent professional staff while staying within budgetary guidelines.
- WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Partnership with Executive Director and Medical Director.Partnership and collaboration with Nurse Executive of the hospital client and member of the nursing executive group.Ongoing contact with Corporate Services.Contact with all Cancer Center and partner hospital personnel on a routine basis.Involvement in professional organizations and all oncology related community activities.Vendors, marketing representatives/contacts.Patients, families, and other Cancer Center customers and contacts as needed.Supervisory Responsibility: Typically will supervise clinical managers of the following areas: Nursing, RadiationTherapy, Lab, Pharmacy, HIM, Radiology, Psychosocial, etc.
- Organizational Performance Improvement: In conjunction with Cancer Center leadership, develops, implements and coordinates performance improvement programs that enhance clinical practice, facilitate the delivery of care in a safe environment, contribute to professional development of staff, and address the needs of the patient population served. Takes a leadership role in identifying, benchmarking and monitoring key indicators, best practices and other measures to evaluate the Centers clinical performance. Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing health care delivery by continuous monitoring of the clinical practice/operations, and initiating changes where required inassociation with department directors/managers.
- Staff Education, Development and Performance: Develops, implements and monitors staff development and performance management plans and programs based upon identified needs. Directs the development of job specific competencies for all clinical staff and develops processes to maintain and improve competency and job performance.
- Fiscal Responsibility and Management: Ensures the efficient, effective and competent performance of assigned departments of responsibility to provide quality safe health care services within budgetary guidelines. Participates in the budget development and monitoring process for the clinical aspects of the cancer center to ensure that sufficient resources are available to provide care, reflective of strategic direction and operational goals and objectives. Determines appropriate staffing levels for all areas, guides managers in developing efficient staffing and monitors adherence to plans.
- Strategic Planning and Leadership: As a member of the executive leadership team, participates in the strategic and operational planning of the Center with particular emphasis on nursing and clinical initiatives to support standards of nursing and clinical practice, and develops appropriate goals and objectives to achieve desired outcomes. Develops and implements overall short and long-term strategic goals and objectives for the clinical aspects of cancer center operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Complies with regulatory requirements (i.e. TJC) appropriate for position.Current licensure or eligibility for license as a Registered Nurse in state of Center. Bachelor in Nursing required. Master's Degree in Nursing or related field preferred. OCN Certification highly desirable. At least 7 years of progressive clinical and management experience in both hospital andambulatory setting. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory capabilities, including the ability to effectively delegate. Demonstrated ability/skill to initiate and coordinate complex projects, work redesign and clinical/technological improvements. Knowledge of licensure/regulations for practice in levels of nursing, pharmacy, and other clinical professions practicing within the Center. Knowledge of regulatory requirements, i.e., State OSHA, JCAHO, that must be complied with. Knowledge of business, financial environment of complex health care systems, and insurance requirements affecting clinical services. Ability/ skill to communicate effectively with an all members of the.Ability/ skill to establish and maintain positive individual and team working relationships with alllevels of executive, professional and support staff. Knowledge of research, medical, and business ethics. Must posses excellent written and oral communication skills to communicate effectively withthe corporate management team, health care team, including multi-specialty physicians,hospital and medical center personnel, and the community.Ability to be flexible when needed, firm when needed, and to work well under pressure.Certification in relevant practice area required

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $124,339.17 - $203,854.56 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
