Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Plant Operating Mechanic.

Reporting to the Plant Operating Engineer, the Plant Operating Mechanic will be responsible for the monitoring and maintaining of combined cycle/boiler power plant equipment in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Perform all corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance as directed.
• Completes work orders in a safe and timely manner.
• Maintain workspaces and plant machinery/tools/etc. in a clean and orderly manner.
• Receives and delivers commodities including fuel and chemicals in accordance with NYULMC protocols and established safety policies and procedures.
• Operates fork lift and scissor lifts.
• Maintains safe working conditions: identifies and corrects or reports unsafe conditions in work area.
• Maintains all shop machinery and power plant in a clean and neat manner at all times.
• Starts and stops power plant equipment as directed.
• Inspects boilers, steam turbines, gas turbines and generators and all other plant equipment and makes routine repairs to same; performs electrical trouble-shooting in connection with his operation when needed; takes any emergency action as needed in the event of abnormal conditions.
• Treats and maintains chemical treatment systems for all plant equipment.
• Certified in fuel oil handling, chemical treatment, Emergency Action Plan, Fire Safety Director, etc. plus OSHA 10 certification
• Maintains all shop machinery and power plant in a clean and neat manner at all times.
• Take daily log sheets and meter readings for shift and reports abnormal reading.
• Perform all corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance as directed.
• Ability to work all and variable shifts including 3X12.5 hour and 4X 10 hour shifts including night, weekends and holidays as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• Five (5) years experience in plant operations and/or maintenance
• NYC High Pressure Steam license OR ability to obtain one in a timely manner.
• OSHA 10 plus Fire Safety/emergency Action Plan Director/fire alarm/fuel oil/ others as needed certificate of fitness holder or ability to obtain one within 6-12 months of employment
• Experience with gas turbine operation desired
• Experience with boilers and high pressure steam operations desired
• Must have a firmly demonstrated commitment to safety, with strong leadership, supervisory and people skills.Must possess good communication skills - written and oral, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to effectively interface with others

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $104,881.36 - $104,881.36 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
