Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Director of Nursing, Women's Services.

In this role, the successful candidate Position Summary:Leads and manages a clinical nursing service in the planning, implementation and evaluation of quality, safe and efficient nursing care; develops, facilitates and supports implementation of nursing and interdisciplinary care standards throughout the service(s); fosters and demonstrates collaborative relationships with other disciplines; develops and sustains collaborative practice with physician specialty groups and other practitioners pertinent to the service line team; manages the nursing service's financial planning, implementation and monitoring of operational and capital budgets; coordinates service-specific quality and improvement projects..

Job Responsibilities:

    • Articulates an understanding of nursing process,interdisciplinary collaboration, customer service,patient/family education, and continuum of careconcepts, particularly as they apply to the populationserved.
    • Researches trends and issues pertinent to the clinicalservices and the service lines quality andperformance improvement.
    • Systematically evaluates the quality and effectivenessof nursing practice and nursing leadership programs.
    • Participates in and/or leads interdisciplinary qualityand performance improvement projects pertinent toservice line goals and objectives.
    • Participates in developing and implementinginterdisciplinary outcome standards.
    • Stimulates and initiates clinical studies and researchprojects pertinent to the patient population served andparticipates in interdisciplinary research programs.
    • Facilitates development and initiation of clinicalprotocols and research initiatives.
    • Designs, implements and evaluates programs andactivities to ensure compliance with regulatoryagencies as pertains to nursing and /or patient careservices.
    • Participates in and fosters staff involvement inevidence based practice and other nursing researchactivities.
    • Establishes processes to create, evaluate andimprove or sustain an environment that promotespatient/family, physician and staff satisfaction.
    • Plans, implements, and annually evaluates serviceand unit-based quality and performance improvementprograms consistent with the departmental andhospital plan.
    • Supports academic affiliations for purposes ofproviding clinically rich experiences for students ofnursing, and enrichment of nursing staff.
    • Coordinates and facilitates interdisciplinary patientand family educational programs and activities using avariety of media, to promote quality patient care.
    • Works collaboratively with clinical and educationalresources and experts to plan and implementeducational offerings for staff and leadership.
    • Evaluates own performance based on professionalpractice standards, and criteria established byaccrediting/Regulatory agencies.
    • Maintains clinical and leadership competency byparticipation in continuing education, professionalorganizations and other related activities.
    • Serves as resource to staff and leadership fordevelopment of nursing standards that are consistentwith the established model.
    • Fosters opportunities for staff and leadershipparticipation in activities and educational programsthat promote learning and professional development.
    • Facilitates an environment of learning that supportspatient safety, and all levels of nursing practice andpersonnel.
    • Functions as a respectful leader of the health careteam.
    • Role models service standards in actions andcommunications with patients, families, staff and otherdisciplines.
    • Coordinates and facilitates activities to promoteservice and interdisciplinary teamwork.
    • Participates in hospital committees and projects,including medical board committees, and hospitalwideimplementation programs.
    • Establishes collaborative relationships with nursingstaff, leadership, medical staff, and otheradministrative staff and throughout the medicalcenter.
    • Works collaboratively, demonstrating partnershipswith physician leadership and service lineadministrative staff to develop and maintain clinicalpractice standards of care and operational programs.
    • Hires, develops and evaluates nursing leadershipfrom orientation through termination, if necessary,according to established standards.
    • Participates in the design of new clinical facilities andrenovations of existing facilities to represent a patientcare and nursing perspective.
    • Coordinate activities pertaining to patient care basedon the hospitals and the Departments' of Nursingphilosophy and mission.
    • Establishes leadership accountability while providingsupport and guidance for role advancement andprofessional development of formal and aspiringleadership.
    • Initiates and sustains structure standards for thedepartment, service line, service, and unit level.
    • Contributes to recruitment and retention throughadvocacy with other departments on behalf of nursingto optimize systems that contribute to patient caredelivery.
    • Develops capital budget submissions within theclinical service in conjunction with the servicesLogistics Manager; and participates in theDepartments-wide capital budget submissions withthe Vice President of Nursing Operations or otherpertinent Vice President of Hospital Operations.
    • Facilitates use of the Labor Productivity Tool,discharge and/or volume targets, and Patient Profilingto assist Nurse Mangers to plan and to validatestaffing patterns.
    • Establishes the operating budget for the clinicaldepartment (salary and non-salary where applicable),in conjunction with the Nurse Managers; monitorsexpenses as balanced with patient volume and otherindicators; and evaluates outcomes, makingmodifications and adjustments as indicated.
    • Participates in establishing the service lines financialplan and utilizes data provided by the organizationsperformance scorecard to make strategicrecommendations to senior leadership.
    • Demonstrates visibility, accessibility and effectivecommunication that convey a strong sense ofadvocacy and support for staff and leadership.
    • Establishes and maintains processes to ensurecompetency and appropriate utilization of staff.
    • Provides resources and collaborates to design andimplement processes that facilitate age- appropriate,culturally sensitive, and ethical care for patients.
    • Leads efforts to develop and implement evidencebasedclinical practice.
    • Initiates and sustains development of service-levelnursing and interdisciplinary process standards
    • Demonstrates understanding of the value ofprofessional nursing, the conceptual framework inwhich it is practiced, and the features of anorganization that attracts and retains nurses.
    • Demonstrates and enhances others understanding ofnursing and patient care standards as integral andsupportive of professional practice, participatorymanagement, and values espoused by theDepartments of Nursing, the hospital, and the medicalcenter.
    • Develops, maintains and evaluates systems thatsupport nursing process and the delivery of safe andeffective patient care.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Minimum Qualifications:Licensure: Current Registered Professional Nurse in the State of New York; Education: Masters degree in nursing preferred, or Masters in related field required; doctoral work in progress or earned, desirable.Experience: Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in pertinent area of practice;Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience;Excellent skills in the following areas: verbal and written communication, critical thinking, creativity, interpersonal relationships and team building, change management, evidence based practice, strategies to support professional nursing practice; interdisciplinary patient/family education strategies and processes, and current issues and trends in service-specific nursing and health care in general; understanding and commitment to sustain a Magnet culture; supports an environment of learning; ability to communicate vision and goals of the Departments of Nursing, and NYUMC.Certification in Nursing Administration, Administration Advanced, and or/relevant clinical specialty preferred;Participation in pertinent professional organizations, such as the American Organization of Nurse Executives and respective state and regional chapters; and specialty nursing organizations.Physical stamina, manual dexterity, visual and aural acuity to perform responsibilities...

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $166,246.32 - $224,952.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
