What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Analyst position at NYU?
This position provides analytical and technical support of systems and services supported by the Office of the Registrar. The Business Analyst ensures the accurate entry of new records and management of existing ones in SIS/Albert and the identification and remediation of duplicate records and insuring that all sources of data are following designated data policies. This position performs functional and security analysis and configuration of multiple systems, acts as the liaison to technical support teams, and serves on implementation teams for future systems. The position supports the systems’ administrative and self-service users with training, reporting, and troubleshooting, and performs tasks integral to the central use of the systems. This position develops, documents, and maintains standards, policies and procedures, and creates new business processes or enhancements to existing processes that promote essential activities.
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education:
Relevant courses (systems analysis, database systems, Java, web programming).
Required Experience:
2 years related experience or equivalent combination, with student applications in an academic environment. Must include experience with systems applications and analysis, integrated systems and providing user support services. Strong functional and technical experience in the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions application.
Preferred Experience:
Experience with batch process schedulers (BMC Control M, PeopleSoft, or similar). Experience with security administration for related systems and applications (e.g., PeopleSoft, ImageNow) and supporting mainframe systems.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to diagnose & troubleshoot system errors with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Strong team player as well as demonstrate the ability to complete projects independently. Proficient with MS office applications. Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical audience. Able to complete tasks with aggressive timelines. Strong desire to serve students, faculty, and administrators in an university support setting. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and client support skills, PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, SailPoint, Query, SQL experience, BRIO, Tableau or similar reporting tool. Ability to interact with a diverse population and all levels of personnel, and to demonstrate tact and diplomacy when in dealing with difficult issues and/or diverse organizations. Ability to develop positive and cooperative relationships with students, faculty, staff, parents, professional colleagues, and the public.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrate understanding of programming logic (examples: SQL, XML, HTML, and/or JavaScript). Understands the working of a relational database (examples: PeopleSoft 9.x, ImageNow). Experience with Windows OS, Linux/Unix.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $58,500 - $100,000.
