What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gardener position at Oahu Country Club?
Summary: Grows, plants, replaces and cares for horticultural specialty products and crops, such as flowers, ornamental plants and vegetables under environmentally controlled conditions. The work will be indoors and outdoors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintains quality appearance of plants inside the Clubhouse.
- Decorates the Clubhouse with fresh and dried flower arrangements when directed to.
- Determine types and quantities of plantings to grow, allocate space in greenhouse or garden: schedule growing activities.
- Plant seeds and transplants seedlings.
- Removes substandard plants to maintain quality control, prunes plants to enhance development, and positions plants for artistic display.
- Monitors nutrient applications; dispense herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides.
- May works with the Executive Chef to maintain the kitchens garden.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintains cleanliness of greenhouse and surrounding area.
- Maintains equipment in good operating order (tools and golf cart).
- Maintains records of items bought/sold and turns invoices into supervisor for prompt payment.
Qualifications:
- Clear and courteous verbal communication skills.
- Ability to provide superior customer service consistently.
- Flexibility in schedule to work during special Club or golf functions.
- Neat physical appearance.
- Read and write the English language fluently.
