Summary

The Program Dean oversees the education of the child utilizing the processes required to facilitate the educational aspects of OCA’s mission. This position also facilitates the curriculum, teacher training, student assessments, enrichments, character development, and teacher support within the program.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Understanding of and proficiency in Google suite
  • Technical ability to work with various software programs and learn new ones as needed (Ex. Google Docs, Trello, Canva, and school specific platforms)

  • Must have great conflict resolution including assessing concerns to determine cause in order to appropriately resolve issues
  • Ability to communicate openly and honestly while maintaining working relationships with school administrators, support staff, and parents

Essential Functions

  • Proven Process
  • Oversees and ensures implementation of TOC Christian, Community, and Montessori Processes
  • Curriculum
  • Works with the Curriculum Team to establish educational benchmarks, aligning Montessori materials, supplemental curriculum, books, workbooks to complete educational goals for the program
  • Facilitates curriculum training, distribution, use, and support
  • Updates and ensures use of 3-year curriculum maps and annual pacing guides
  • Teacher Training
  • Helps design and implement August training for teachers
  • Facilitates monthly PLC training meetings for Leads and Assistants
  • Provides teacher training for curriculum, pacing guides, character development, classroom processes and management, presenting Montessori lessons, presenting group lessons, read-aloud, literature groups, assistant management, parent relations & conferences, holidays, assessments & extensions
  • Student Assessments
  • Oversees & provides support for BOY assessments, quarterly review, quarterly assessments, reading assessments, EOY assessments, Woodcock Johnson testing & CAT tests
  • Student Academic Support
  • Assists teachers in identifying & meeting student academic needs
  • Facilitates Academic Partnership process for students who require additional support
  • Report Card Process
  • Ensures quarterly teacher data entry
  • Approves quarterly report cards
  • Provides troubleshooting support for teachers
  • Enrichments
  • Oversees enrichments schedules, curriculum maps/plans, teacher oversight & appraisal
  • Events
  • Works with Events Committee to coordinate campus-wide community events
  • Facilitates Rising Classroom Preview Day during Encounter Week
  • Schedule Oversight
  • Creates & oversees daily campus-wide schedule
  • Thrive Character Development
  • Ensures implementation of heart & character training within program
  • Oversees & provides training for character awards and Character Award Ceremony
  • Teacher Support & Communication
  • Facilitates weekly meetings with Lead Teachers to provide support, resourcing, problem solving
  • Available to teachers for ongoing needs and concerns
  • Facilitates Team Appraisals once a year
  • Helps lead Staff Meetings with educational departmental content
  • Approves teacher time off
  • Parent Support & Communication
  • Provides next-level support for parents with academic/faculty concerns
  • Provides Education Department content for the Bucks Bulletin
  • Facilitates Fall Parent Observation Week
  • Designs & facilitates Parent Orientation
  • Oversees & supports Parent Coordinator
  • Creates & distributes Blended Model Parent Guide
  • Observations
  • Conducts monthly proven process classroom observations with feedback
  • Facilitates in-house teacher observations once a year
  • Encouragement & Community
  • Provides ongoing encouragement for teachers
  • Coordinates creative team-building initiative to build community among teaching staff
  • Staff Collaboration
  • Meets with Assistant Head of School weekly for support, encouragement & accountability
  • Meets with Dean of Students weekly to collaborate on student needs
  • Meets with Campus Site Admin weekly to collaborate on campus schedule, events & needs

Physical Demands

  • The physical demands of this position are generally limited to light office duty
