Operations Manager Job Description

Primary Duties

  • Day to day operations of a community music school
  • Manage studio and teacher schedules using an online studio management platform
  • Invoicing/bookkeeping
  • Client and staff communications (in-person/phone/email)
  • Website management
  • Clerical work and studio organization

Secondary Duties

  • Facility and equipment inventory and management
  • Music library development and management
  • Program development
  • Student recruitment

Facility in the following software

  • Quickbooks
  • My Music Staff
  • Microsoft Excel or equivalent
  • Microsoft Outlook
  • Squarespace

Oak Park School of Music (OPSM) opened in 2019 and has since provided private, semi- private, and group music instruction for the youth and adult population. Starting 2020, OPSM adopted virtual and recorded modes of instruction. OPSM’s facilities also serve as a rental and performance venue for faculty, students, visiting guest artists, and the community. OPSM has grown to over 200 students in its short two years and is on track to continue growing at this rate.

The operations manager (OM) reports to the director and manages day-to-day operations of the school. The OM ensures instruction both at the school and online are operating smoothly on a daily basis, which may include scheduling, troubleshooting, and enforcing school policy as needed. The candidate must have strong communication and organization skills. Required qualifications: high school diploma, professional, organized, and friendly. Preferred qualifications: college diploma, arts administration experience, marketing experience, bookkeeping experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability

Mask required at all times in the building; HEPA filters in each working/teaching space; low capacity.
