Overview
The Director of Event Services maximizes the customer experience by planning, monitoring, directing, delegating, controlling, and managing the event logistics, setup/teardown, housekeeping, exhibitor services, audio visual, and for all facility events.
This role will pay a salary of $55,000 to $60,000.

Responsibilities
- Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of assigned programs and functions for the RPC.
- Keeps cost records of work performed and makes cost estimates as requested.
- Select, train, schedule, motivate and evaluate event staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.
- Participate in the development and administration of the Event Services section of the budget; forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; direct, monitor and approve all department expenditures; implement adjustments as necessary.
- Provide responsible staff assistance to the General Manager; prepare and present reports and other related correspondence.
- Maintain policies and procedures as needed.
- Apply administrative and departmental policies and procedures.
- Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Plans, organizes, and assigns all day-to-day work assignments for event managers and other event services department personnel.
- Meets with user groups to determine user needs and to explain facility capabilities and policies.
- Prepares, confirms, and issues event resumes, diagrams, and estimates for staff and clients.
- Takes part in reviewing and approving final billing to clients prior to release of invoice.
- Assume management responsibility for all services and activities of the Events Department including the planning and directing of all facility events.
- Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive inquiries and complaints.
- Makes immediate decisions and communicates with users of the facility in an emergency situation.
- Maintains open communication between clients, contractors, employees and public, by providing technical facility information and establishing an effective rapport.
- Conducts Production Meeting as well as department meetings insuring smooth coordination of activities.
- Research, reviews, and recommends equipment, materials, and supplies required in providing event services and planning.
- Work with Operations Manager to schedule and track labor, labor allocations, building supplies, and other necessary resources.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required and assist General Manager as needed
Qualifications

- Seven (7 ) of increasingly responsible event management experience in a theatre, convention center or public assembly facility setting highly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or better from an accredited college or university with major course work in facility management, marketing, business administration or related field or commensurate experience
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office programs; experience with AutoCAD and Social Tables preferred; timekeeping and security software
- Knowledge of operational characteristics of events, including crowd management and control techniques; fire and public safety regulations, food service practices, A/V equipment and relevant federal, state, and local regulations
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing
- Production experience involving concert set up, audio, video, lighting, and rigging preferred
- Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to function and make management decisions in a fast-paced high-pressure environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including long nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Intellectual/Social Demands:
While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. Employees in this role will constantly be in a leadership role; this requires directing others either verbally or in writing to complete tasks in a prescribed time frame. This position also requires constant use of interpersonal skills including ability to direct/motivate/inform staff and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients.
Physical Demands:
While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc.; occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage areas, cabinets and office machinery; constantly moves about the facilities and event sites before, during and after events to service clients, supervise staff and assist in room sets; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information.
Work Environment:
The duties of this position are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environments is usually moderate to loud during events and minimal during non-event times.
