Overview

This is a key technical resource for the Aquatic Center Competitive Meet Operations overseeing a variety of Electronic Timing System and related production equipment necessary to conduct Swimming, Diving and Water Polo competitions.

This position requires considerable knowledge of Timing Systems Aquatic Competitive Electronic Timing Systems and Hytek Meet Entry software and hardware as well as operation, maintenance and repair of this complex technical timing system equipment and the prompt delivery of the race results to the electronic Scoreboard during competitions.

This position is responsible for setting up, testing, trouble shooting and operating the electronic timing system and all of its related equipment including the Timing system 6, touch pads, starting blocks, Champ start system, video review system and related camera set ups, relay take off and track start equipment, scoreboard data, messages and race results.

This position works closely with all Event Support Companies (TV Broadcast, NCAA technical omega swiss timing) aquatic event hosts in setting up and conducting competitive meets ranging in scope from local age group competitions to National Televised NCAA and USA Swimming and Diving Championships.

Accuracy of equipment and quick trouble shooting are critical components in providing service of the meet entry information and timing system results with accuracy to the 100th of a second to scoreboard.

This employee will also be responsible for scheduling and training two full time meet techs (assign duties, training, evaluating), part time meet event staff including timing operators, scoreboard operators and meet technicians.

Candidates must be able to operate, establish connections between, and trouble shoot an Electronic Timing System with lap tops and meet software and the scoreboard as well as laser measuring the pool courses and individual lanes for proper distance and certification of any records, inventory of equipment and forecasting and ordering related Race components.

This position addresses issues in a very demanding and time sensitive situations and requires research and development of a highly technical nature omega.

Must be able to recommend and participate in developing systems for streamlining, storage, delivery of video streaming and other functions for the

improvement and advancement of GAC overall meet operations.

This role will pay an hourly rate of $33.65 - $40.86.

About the Venue

The Greensboro Coliseum Complex, commonly referred to as Greensboro Coliseum (the first and biggest building on the site), is an entertainment and sports complex located in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Opened in 1959, the complex holds eight venues that includes an amphitheater, arena, aquatic center, banquet hall, convention center, museum, theatre, and an indoor pavilion.

It is the home of the UNC Greensboro Spartans men's basketball team, the Greensboro Swarm of the NBA G League, the Carolina Cobras of the National Arena League, as well as the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) with their Men's and Women's basketball tournaments.

Responsibilities

Oversees installations of all race timing equipment and meet software and hardware including Wi-Fi, computers, printers, Omega Quantum, touchpads, starting blocks, buttons and blocks.

Networks race results data communication from timing equipment to scoreboard and website uploads, oversees set up of cameras and GAC video streaming service.

During meets, Supervises other meet technicians, tests

and trouble shoots and for high profile events serves as the timing system operator. Performs laser measurements and certifications of course compliance before meets and when race records are set.

Oversees two full-time and 4-6 part time meet technicians. Assigns their schedules and duties and monitors their work. Develops and leads training of tech staff and performs evaluations annually.

Leads the hiring interview and makes recommendations for hiring tech staff. Performs and oversees the weekly and monthly maintenance of all race related equipment.

Performs inventory, establishes maintenance schedules and makes recommendations for purchases (short term and long term) for all race related

equipment and data results hardware.

Participates in the recommendation and development of meet related improvements for the advancement of the GAC overall meet operations.

Works with external host event support management including TV Broadcast production staff, NCAA technical event staff and Omega Swiss Timing System lead staff to ensure connections and setups for integration and compliance of flawless racing and rules compliance.

Meets with GAC Manager and Event Management team to coordinate set up and strike dates and times. Meets with meet hosts requiring assistance with race equipment such as starting blocks and backstroke ledges.

Attends high profile meet technical meetings as a lead resource to explain race data function and display and answer other race and race equipment related questions from coaches and officials.

Qualifications

Knowledge in the set up, integration and operation of Aquatic Electronic Timing System Equipment and Meet software, results and data display to a Scoreboard.

Ability to operate Timing System Equipment and make necessary adjustments or changes to race equipment components to ensure functioning touch pads, buttons, speakers, relay take off platforms, to ensure accurate race results with minimal down time.

Forecast equipment needs and costs, supervise others and assign their work.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED BY STATUTE OR REGULATION : ARC First Aid, CPR and Officiating Admin Cert
