Job Posting for Social Media Content Fellow at Oberlin
Oberlin College and Conservatory invites applicants with a strong understanding of social media and a keen interest in content writing for the role of Social Media Content Fellow within the Office of Communications. This is an in-person, 12-month, full-time administrative and professional staff appointment with the option for renewal.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Content and collaborating closely with the Content Team, the Social Media Content Creator will play an active role in writing, editing, and publishing content across social platforms. You will be actively engaged in social listening, initiate conversations across platforms, and maintain a cohesive voice for interaction on Oberlin’s institutional social media accounts. As an active member of our campus, you will cultivate relationships within social communities, attend events, and share in the activities of our campus. As a part of our social team, you will exercise discretion in responding to inquiries, and maintain awareness of best practices and emerging trends.
Essential Job Functions
Write and edit assigned content for various channels, including social media and web.
Generate video and photo content for Oberlin’s social media and other digital channels.
Utilize tools like Canva for graphic creation on digital channels and social media.
Assist the Social Media Strategist with planning and social engagement.
Moderate social conversations, respond to inquiries, and provide feedback on social posts.
Work with the social team to monitor, review, and report inappropriate postings when necessary.
Contribute ideas to the content team.
Collaborate with campus social media partners and student employees.
Share social admin responsibilities.
Marginal Job Functions
Required Qualifications
Recent college graduate; preference for May 2024 Oberlin graduate or recent Oberlin alum
Demonstrated interest in social media, with a preference for professional experience
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Ability to communicate effectively with various Oberlin stakeholders: alumni, parents and families, prospective students, and the campus community
Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
Ability to be flexible in working hours including evening and weekend responsibilities.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in social media content creation
Service-oriented approach to social interactions
Familiarity with using social media for institutional communications
Interest in social media marketing, promotional communications, and/or policy-making
Experience with photography and videography content creation for social media
Academic coursework or professional experience in journalism or communications.
Compensation
Within the range established for this position, salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes an excellent benefits package.
