Billing Clerk

Qualifications/Knowledge requirements

  • Knowledge of ICD-10
  • OB/.GYN experience a plus
  • Experience with electronic billing (preferred)
  • Will review strong billers with certified coding interest


Job duties:

  • Assign diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD (International Classification of Diseases) and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes
  • Follow up with the provider on any documentation that is insufficient or unclear
  • Communicate and train with clinical staff regarding billing and documentation
  • Review patient charts and documents for accuracy when necessary
  • Ensure that all codes are current and active
  • Reviewing accounts for insurance follow-up

.• Researching denied claims that billing company requires clarification

  • Assisting in answering patient or insurance telephone inquiries
  • Any other projects or duties as assigned
