POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an initiative driven, detail oriented professional with client service experience to mange the operations of a fast-paced financial services practice in Richmond, VA. This role is critical to the client experience and requires a high degree of follow-through, strong interpersonal skills and organizational capability.

The Director of Financial Planning will work closely with the Wealth Management Advisor/CEO to provide first class service and relationship management to high end clients, including professional athletes and coaches, in addition to helping with their advanced planning needs. Primary responsibilities include managing the investment analysis and operations in the practice.

The ideal candidate will have comprehensive financial planning experience, the ability to create efficiencies inside of a practice and a passion for financial planning.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Quarterback the internal practice processes to ensure clients have a first class experience and the practice owner can focus on client acquisition and relationship building activities.
  • Create customized fee based financial plans and investment portfolios for clients, while aiding in synchronizing investment operations, insurance operations, plan construction, client experience, and logistics through other team members.
  • Help create financial literacy materials to serve professional & collegiate athletes.
  • Foster relationships with existing clients to ensure the proper level of service is provided to continue the work that was set forth by the wealth management advisor.
  • Accompany the wealth management advisor in new client meetings to help capture client situations and then be able to direct the necessary work with the internal team. The lead planner must ensure all processes for the client experience are executed and will lead with strong follow through.
  • Learn the firm’s planning and investment philosophy, developing an expertise in advanced planning (estate, trust work, tax treatment, etc).
  • Ensure all client information is kept confidential while also tracking business in CRM systems, with case notes.

Financial Planning

  • Create financial plans and comprehensive insurance and investments recommendations for new clients
  • Update plans for existing clients prior to annual reviews
  • Take a proactive approach to find solutions and conduct research for client scenarios

Investment Management and Operations

  • Prepare investment advisory proposals
  • Prepare necessary paperwork to implement recommendations
  • Run and analyze performance reports in Envestnet, Morningstar, NMCIR etc.
  • Track potential future rollover opportunities
  • Handle incoming service requests from clients regarding their accounts
  • Process proposal amendments and monitor alerts
  • Participate in client meetings for financial or investment plan implementation
  • Monitor industry trends and research
  • Ensure compliance requirements are implemented

  • Willingness to work outside position parameters and think creatively to provide the highest level of client service.
  • A self-starting team player with a passion for putting the client first.
  • A tenacious problem solver that tackles any task with conviction and energy.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Series 7, 63, 65 licenses
  • State Life and Health licenses

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • CFP and/or CFA designation(s)
  • Experience with NetX360 and/or Envestnet highly preferred
