Job Description:

Position Overview:
The Director of Business Development position is responsible for planning and implementing sales, marketing, and product development programs. Short- and long-range sales that are targeted toward existing and new markets by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Manage assigned territory and demonstrate extensive knowledge of potential customers and competitors in this area, while developing, maintaining, and implementing a sales plan.

  • Submit sales activities and sales reports into our sales software in a timely and accurate manner. This includes all communication with the client and potential client.

  • Participate in the creation of value-added solutions for customer’s logistics needs, including supporting diagrams and cost-benefit calculations.

  • Support the transition of new accounts through customer introductions, information transfer, and securing any necessary customer paperwork.

  • Meet sales target and work with the VP of Sales and CEO to achieve sales goals.

  • Maintain and develop good relationships with current clients and potential clients as well as competitors. Answering their questions and concerns with honesty and integrity.

  • Identifying business opportunities within your territory. Study and analyze potential sales opportunities. Coordinate new sales with an organized plan on how to service that client going forward.

  • Gather, analyze, and summarize marketplace information for your territory while keeping informed of national information and how it will impact your area.

  • Resolve customer problems, investigate, prepare solution, and communicate information with sales manager and CEO.

  • Stay current on product knowledge and market information.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or above in sales and marketing or a business area is preferred.

  • At least 3 years of experience in the logistics industry preferred.

  • Ability to meet and exceed sales goals - proven Sales Success.

  • Sales planning and negotiation skills.

  • Solid sales presentation, oral and written communication skills

  • Must be able to multitask.

  • Able to work independently and has team spirit.

  • Shows responsibility and reliability towards external and internal (team / people).

  • Understanding local market and key industries present in the market

  • Knowledge of Microsoft office products is a must and knowledge of Salesforce and CargoWise is beneficial.

Work Environment:
  • Work is performed in an office environment where there is no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Work requires close attention to task for work to be accurately completed. Intermitted breaks during the workday do not compromise the work. Work requires constant respond to changing circumstances and using new information to adjust approach and to quickly respond to new needs.

  • Sensory Essential Functions include close work, visual examination of paperwork, computer monitor and keyboard use, conversations, telephone and background noise.

  • Physical Requirements with reasonable accommodations. Light work requiring exerting up to 20 pounds if force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling. Job consists of sitting, standing, walking, squatting and twisting.
