Position Summary
An Instructional Designer is a professional who designs, develops. And delivers effective and engaging learning experiences. The goal is to facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills, and competencies in an effective and appealing manner.
This is an office US based position within Morgan City, LA designated as hybrid – remote and work schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on business need.
Ability to travel up to 20% to another work location (domestically and internationally) for a specified time to meet with key stakeholders, subject matter experts, and/or observe the respective technologies or work processes that need to be captured in the instructional design materials / guides.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer.
- Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience’s training needs.
- State instructional end goals and create content that matches them.
- Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface, and the finished product.
- Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts.
- Apply tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods.
- Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process.
- Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc.)
- Decide on the criteria used to judge learner’s performance and develop assessment instruments.
- Maintain project documentation and course folders.
- All other duties assigned.
Required
Qualifications
- BS or MA degree in instructional design, educational technology, or equivalent experience five (5) years plus.
- Proven working experience in instructional design and with instructional technology.
- Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models.
- Lesson and curriculum planning skills.
- Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management. System
- Visual design skills (Photoshop, Illustrator) and ability to storyboard.
- Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts.
DESIRED
- Basic HTML and Adobe Animate programming knowledge.
- Knowledge of video editing using Adobe Premiere and/or After Effects.
- Exposure to, or knowledge of competency systems and development.
- Experience with SumTotal is a real plus but not essential.
- Use of Articulate storyline 3 or 360 and Adobe Captivate as e-learning development tools.
Additional Information
This position is Hybrid - Remote and will require commuting to a designated office. Hybrid work schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on business need.
