System Chair of Radiology
Under the direction of the Medical Director of Hospital Based Service Lines, the System Chair serves in a strategic leadership role. The System Chair will collaborate with senior leadership at a system and campus level to lead Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers to deliver quality care in a patient focused environment.
The Imaging Division has expanded dramatically over the years, more than doubling in size and scale. As a system department, it delivers comprehensive care across all regions, including Louisiana and Mississippi, with three academic medical centers and a tertiary referral center. In addition, engagement and leadership with two medical schools and 2 radiology residency programs are critical to our workforce strategies.
Imaging across the health system has employed physicians as well as contracted physicians that work in Ochsner and partner facilities. Despite the location or partnership, all are on the same instance of EPIC and have images within our PACS database.
Like all physician leadership positions at Ochsner, the role has an administrative dyad partner.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
· As an engaging, energetic, and forward-thinking leader, the Chair will lead a highly engaged and academically productive group of more than 100 physicians, including general and subspecialty focused, across more than 30 sites across the system.
· Responsible for the development and maintenance of efficient and effective clinical operations, strategic mindset and promotion of collaborative work relationships between clinicians at all levels.
· Partners to lead growth on the subspecialty academic side, with development of teams across a multitude of specialties.
· Achieves high department performance through commitment to evidence-based imaging care, process improvement and the development of a quality improvement program.
· Leads active research section focusing on clinical and outcomes research, including clinical trials.
· Responsible for strategic planning and execution of a clear vision supporting the service line across the system, amidst various strategic partnerships.
· Lead efforts across the system for the use of clinical data to proactively monitor, revise and develop best practice guidelines to improve patient outcomes across the system.
· Promotes the standardization of clinical processes and interoperability; adoption of effective solutions and advanced innovative patient care, aiming to reduce care variations amongst facilities.
· Responsible for the recruitment of diverse, high-caliber faculty and trainees, who will enhance scientific advances, pursue excellence in medical education, and grow clinical operations. In addition, the Chair will collaborate with stakeholders across multiple regions to drive exceptional
patient service, quality outcomes, faculty and staff satisfaction, growth and volume management, expanded research capabilities, and improved financial performance.
· Support of strategic partnerships such as MD Anderson and Andrews Institute (amongst others) to ensure the full benefits of those relationships, including multi-disciplinary conferences.
· Ensure strategies and compensation plans that allow for cohesion across the system, as well as between general and subspecialty physicians.
· In partnership with the administrative dyad, provide expertise and input into equipment selection, protocol standardization, supply stewardship, and value based care initiatives.
· Empowers, motivates and challenges faculty and staff, while holding them accountable, as a visible and inclusive leader with outstanding interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence. Display the qualities of a team player who has an open leadership style that promotes partnership throughout the organization.
· Actively involved in advancing standards of professionalism, including work in state, regional and national organizations.
Required Education and Experience:
· National reputation for excellence and academic accomplishment within Radiology/Imaging, along with at least 3 years of leadership at the Section or Department level
· Current board certification in Radiology and/or a related imaging subspecialty
· M.D. or D.O. degree with active Board Certification through the American Board of Radiology
· Current license, or eligible for medical license, in the state of Louisiana
· Active credentials within Ochsner Health and willingness to maintain clinical practice
Preferred:
· Experience as a System Chair of Vice Chair at a large academic health system.
