This job plans, coordinates, and implements the quality management and improvement programs for the company. Monitors and provides assistance with quality assurance and compliance functions. Provides consultation and direction to ensure programs and services are implemented at the highest standards and patients receive the highest level of care. Ensures policies and procedures are monitored and updated to include regulatory changes.

Education

Required -High school diploma or quivalent

Work Experience

Preferred -Advanced Degree in healthcare or Nursing.

Required -7 years of related health care experience or two years in clinical research with an Associates or Bachelors degree.

Certifications

Preferred-Current State Of Louisiana Registered Nurse License

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Must have knowledge of hospital quality assurance principles and evaluation methodologies.
  • Must have knowledge of principles, practices, and professional standards of medical records management, practice procedures, and terminology.

Job Duties

  • Interprets and implements quality assurance standards in the organization to ensure quality care to patients.
  • Reviews quality assurance standards, studies existing policies and procedures, and interviews personnel and customers to evaluate effectiveness of quality assurance program.
  • Writes quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • Reviews and evaluates patients’ medical records, applying quality assurance criteria.
  • Complies statistical data and writes narrative reports summarizing quality assurance findings.
  • Reviews patient records, applying utilization review criteria, to determine need for admission and continued stay in clinic.
  • Oversees personnel engaged in quality assurance review of medical records.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.

Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.

Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities.

Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).

Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.

There is no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
