Are you passionate about upholding justice and serving your community? Oconto County is seeking a dedicated individual to serve as a Family Court Commissioner/Court Commissioner/Register in Probate. Summary:
Responsible for providing all court commission services for Oconto County including family court and family mediation. Responsible for all probate matters including formal and informal estates, guardianships and mental health commitments.
Responsibilities Include:
· Preside over a variety of legal proceedings, including arraignments, pretrial conferences, and civil hearings.
· Review legal documents, evidence, and arguments presented by both parties in a case.
· Ensure proceedings adhere to legal protocols, statutes, and regulations.
· Issues orders for hearings, take testimony of witnesses under oath for Proof of Heirship hearings.
· As Probate Court Commissioner, preside initial over probate proceedings.
· Process efiled probate matters.
· Render fair and impartial decisions based on the law and facts presented.
· Manage courtroom proceedings efficiently and professionally.
Qualifications:
· Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
· Admission to the bar in Wisconsin.
· Two years of legal experience, preferably family law, probate and/or judicial roles.
· Knowledge of principles, concepts, practices and standards of the legal profession including rules of conduct, rules of evidence, rules of court, contract law, and civil procedure(s). Thorough knowledge of state, federal and local laws and statutes applicable to areas of appointed duties.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to remain impartial and objective in decision-making.
· Demonstrated integrity, ethics, and commitment to upholding justice.
