What are the responsibilities and job description for the CFO position at Octopus Energy?

We have an opportunity for an experienced and dynamic CFO to join our Senior Leadership Team.
In this role, you will lead our core finance functions - Financial Management & Accounting, Financial Operations, Financial Risk, and Pricing. You will also support our Strategic Finance team in financial planning.
You’ll be responsible for performance, planning and development across each area in finance including further developing the teams that we have in place.
We operate in a new and growing industry and like to challenge conventional thinking, e.g. in Pricing and Credit - areas that you’ll have direct responsibility for. This role will give you the opportunity to design and own our performance in these and other areas as we continue to scale rapidly.
- Own core finance in our fast growing Energy Services business
- Lead on the performance and output of teams in each area
- Be the voice for core finance on our Senior Leadership Team
- Encourage a culture of collaboration
- Oversee all financial operations including statutory reporting, cash flow management, debtor management, financial performance, invoicing, and recording in our systems
- Oversee pricing working closely with Strategic Finance, Data and Growth
- Be open to travelling to our other sites when required (e.g. to collaborate with the rest of the Senior Finance Team who are London-based)
- Have worked in a similar role either as an Finance Director or CFO
- Have experience across a number of the key areas of responsibility outlined above
- Experience managing cash in a fast scaling business where scale and control is important
- Be able to plan and scale teams and simple processes, including automation
- Be a good communicator, collaborator and team leader
- Be a problem solver that can take others with you on your decision making
- To enjoy and thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment
- An accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Experience working for a business managing field engineers / moving stock (nice to have)
