Dentists restore and maintain dental health by educating patients on oral healthcare, diagnosing and operating, prescribing and treating any disease, pain, injury, deformity or physical condition of the oral and maxillofacial area. They use a variety of equipment, including x-ray machines, drills, mouth mirrors, probes, forceps, brushes, and scalpels. They also use lasers, digital scanners and other computer technologies.
Responsibilities:
-The dentist provides dental services to their patients in accordance with generally accepted standards of professional practice.
-Adhere to the highest standard of dental practices, ethics and professionalism at all times.
-Provide patient care without regard to age, race, color, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, sex, national origin.
-Provide diagnostic and treatment services.
-Provide primary care and refer to specialist when necessary.
-Work with other staff members to insure delivery of efficient and quality health care.
-Demonstrate a social understanding of the community in order to provide health care in a culturally relevant manner.
-Supervises, educates and instructs dental assistants and hygienists in their duties. Insures open channeled communication in order to enhance the efficient functioning of the health center.
-Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends.
Requirements:
-NYS License
-CPR trained
-Ability to serve as member of health care team and communicate with clinicians, staff and patients
