Position Summary:
As a leader in the organization, the Quality Manager will lead the direction and day to day operations of the Laboratory Team. Responsibilities include supervision and scheduling of the Laboratory Team members, as well as Experimental Design. Additionally, the Laboratory Manager oversees the Food Safety Program and is a member of the Barley to Bright Team which overseas beer production at the brewery.
Essential Functions:
- Manages the day-to-day operations and team in the Laboratory
- Responsible for performance management of the Laboratory Team, with direction and approval from the Technical Director.
- Leads the recruitment and selection process for vacant Laboratory positions, with direction and approval from the Technical Director.
- Trains and holds Lab Team members accountable for
- Follows Standard Operating Procedures & established safety protocols
- Enables and assists team to achieve personal and professional goals maintaining emphasis on perpetual improvement
- Coordinates PTO and shift coverage of Laboratory Team
- Provides shift coverage when needed
- Design, execution, analysis, and follow up of Laboratory experiments
- Assigns experiments and projects to Laboratory Team Members
- Process Improvement
- Analyze production data and identify quality trends and opportunities
- Investigate and implement additional testing methodologies, as needed
- Propose processes changes to achieve efficiencies and improve quality
- Manages SOP Development and Maintenance
- Coordinate SOP creation for new equipment and processes as needed
- Lead annual review of SOP’s and update or delegate necessary changes
- In conjunction with Packaging Managers through the OBC Liquid Quality Group, receives, investigates and responds to customer, distributor, and sales team feedback
- When Critical Defects are detected initiates root-cause analysis, leads recommended action, communication, and follow-up
- May initiate holds or initiate Recall procedure as appropriate, with approval from the Technical Director
- Maintains high level of communication with all departments, both written and verbal
- Works closely with Production Manager Team to inform Production decisions
- Acts as point person as it relates to Quality
- Represents the Lab on the Barley to Bright team
Other Functions:
- Food Safety and Food Compliance Lead
- Continue previous work of HACCP group to develop GMP and HACCP programs with the goal of achieving full FSMA compliance for our Production facilities
- Responsible for development of and adherence to our compliance programs
- Responsibilities outlined in OBC Gluten Control Program and OBC Organic System Plan
- Maintain compliance to FDA nutritional and ingredient labeling standards
- Responsible for continued development of OBC Allergen Control Program
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- 5 years of experience working in a Laboratory preferred
- 2 years of experience in a supervisory role preferred
- Demonstrates high level of organization skills
- At least 21 years old
- Passion for the craft beer industry
- Self-motivated with a desire to always be better
- Ability to adhere to a rotating shift schedule with potential for weekend work
- Computer competency (Office, Google Drive, SAP; etc.)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work long hours on your feet
- Ability to work in a hot, wet, and loud environment
- Ability to crouch, bend, lift, and reach
- Ability to remain focused and level-headed under demanding situations
- Ability to lift and move up to 55 lbs.
Compensation:
Wage information is provided in compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and is Odell’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation range and benefits offered for this position. The compensation offered to the successful applicant may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education, location, or other position-related reasons.
Yearly Salary:
$ 62,000 Yearly depending on experience
