Proposal Manager
MAJOR FUNCTION
A Proposal Manager is a key contributor and resource to the proposal and business development functions. This role is primarily responsible for developing strategic and competitive responses to Request for Proposals (RFPs), Statement of Qualifications (SOQs), and other prequalification-related deliverables with an emphasis on capturing management and win-theme strategies to secure opportunities.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- A proactive ability to manage complex RFP and proposal processes, collaborate with subject matter experts, and present capture solutions effectively in a narrative and visual format
- Must be an independent self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities/tasks and maintain effective time management
- Ability to analyze the RFP requirements and create proposal plans/compliance matrices to ensure overall deliverable quality, compliance, and responsiveness is met
- Lead all proposal communications that include scheduling and conducting kickoff meetings, review meetings, and other related communications required for efficient team collaboration
- Supports the Capture Team Leader in all facets of the proposal process and participates in strategic planning and proposal strategies that include evaluating marketing intelligence, identifying and developing client win strategies
- Ability to creatively develop proposal content management, graphics, and other related collateral
- Performs formatting, grammar review, organization, and editing of proposal content to improve clarity and capture win-theme messaging
- Ability to lead and manage complex government proposals that include multiple companies and partners
- Provides final quality control check for proposal (RFP) compliance and conformance to established strategies and plans
- Perform other duties as assigned
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Journalism, English, or related field
- Ideal candidates should possess 5 years of proposal preparation experience
- Strong organizational and self-management skills, as well as leadership skills
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all work
- Ability to appropriately handle business sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to prioritize assignments, solve problems, and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills, telephone etiquette, and professional demeanor
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Effective team player and leader with highly proficient customer service skills
- Advanced-level user of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Intermediate-level user in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Flexible and able to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment
- Government and commercial proposal experience required
