What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Attorney General VI-Comptroller of Maryland position at Office of the Attorney General- State of Maryland?
The Office of the Attorney General is seeking applicants for a full-time Assistant Attorney General to represent the Comptroller of Maryland in the Annapolis office. Responsibilities include representing the Comptroller in tax litigation before the Maryland Tax Court, circuit courts, and state and federal appellate courts; advising the Comptroller on tax, personnel and employment, unclaimed property, and other issues; drafting/reviewing/advising about proposed legislation and regulations and private letter rulings; and litigating employee discipline and termination cases and other miscellaneous agency cases. The attorney may also be required to provide advice to and litigate on behalf of the Board of Liquor License Commissioners of Baltimore City.
EXPERIENCE: The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in civil litigation and excellent writing skills. Knowledge of and experience litigating income tax or sales-and-use tax cases is preferred. Maryland Bar membership is preferred.
