This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Responsible for overseeing, developing, coordinating, and evaluating policies and procedures in support of Family Advocacy Programs. Incumbent is a subject matter expert on matters relating to the Domestic Violence and Child Abuse education, prevention and intervention services.

Basic Requirement for Family Advocacy Program Specialist:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
GS 13 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized which includes one year of specialized experience which includes assisting in the development of program guidance for Family Advocacy programs (e.g. Victim Advocate, New Parent Support, Child and Spouse abuse prevention, Problematic Sexual Behaviors for Child and Youth and Incident Determination Committee); assessing Family Advocacy Program efforts for conducting primary prevention and responses; and interpreting data to prepare narrative presentations, statistical reports, or fact sheets. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12)

GS 14 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating the effectiveness of Family Advocacy programs (e.g. Victim Advocate, New Parent Support, Child and Spouse abuse, Problematic Sexual Behaviors for Child and Youth (PSB-CY) and Incident determination Committee, prevention and/or intervention); assisting in the improvement processes related to family advocacy programs; interpreting empirical data from Serious Incidents reports, such as GAO (Government Accountability Office) audits to provide reports, inform evidence base policy decision or provide substantiated recommendations; developing Family Advocacy program guidance; and identifying resource requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13)
