Position Summary
Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, the QA Technician plays an important role in maintaining the highest standard for Food Safety, Quality and Legality. These functions take place in the Plant and Quality lab areas.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and can learn and perform basic lab tests using company provided instruments.
Position Responsibilities
- Performs lab tasks in a microbiology and chemistry capacity.
- Uses approved chemicals in lab.
- Performs record reviews.
- Has commitment to producing quality products.
- Raises any quality issues or non-conformances to supervision.
- Conducts Fill/Net weight testing.
- Conducts HACCP related CCP testing.
- Conducts Product code verification.
- Performs Visual Defect and Destruct Testing on glass jars and cans.
- Performs Post-Cook evaluation of glass jars and cans.
- Conducts Total Solid testing.
- Collects samples from any of the Production lines
- All assignments require team members to follow company policies and Good Manufacturing Practices to meet customers’ expectations and help maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, PPE, and comply with all safety policies and requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination.
- Must have ability to perform tasks in a microbiology and chemistry lab, using chemicals for testing.
- Must have knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices.
- Must have knowledge of Good Documentation practices.
- Must have ability to read, analyze and write reports.
- Must have ability to perform basic math calculations.
- Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, and committed to quality mindset.
- Must work well under pressure and be highly responsive to short deadlines.
- Must have ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.
- Having 2-3 years in an analytical role in consumer products is a plus.
- Having food manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Being proficiency with MS programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is a plus.
- Be able to work in a light industrial and somewhat warm environment during summer or cool areas during the winter.
