Assembler

OFS Fitel, a global leader of optical fiber, cable, and assemblies is looking for Assembly Technicians to join our Assembly department, and help support our business growth in Avon, CT. The primary function of this position is to perform duties associated with assembling medical parts/components and specialty fiber optic sub-components and products to meet production and Quality requirements. The position works closely with other Assemblers, Technicians and Engineers in the area, and relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Perform assigned tasks consistently, including a variety of basic and intermediate fiberoptic assembly processes
• Follow OFS Personnel Policies & Safety Procedures and ISO guidelines
• Responsible for maintaining a clean work area and clean room standards where applicable (5S)
• Notify support personnel of equipment/process problems in a timely manner in order to minimize down time and maximize efficiency and yield
• Responsible for product quality as defined by established procedures and product drawings
• Work independently or as a team member at assigned workstation and change to different workstation as directed by area leader
• Assist other operators as required
• Support all production processes
• Support continuous improvement efforts
• Perform other related duties as required by management

Key qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1-3 years of Assembly or Manufacturing Experience
• Basic Math Skills
• Familiar with various hand tools and measuring devices.
• Ability to read, write, communicate and comprehend English
• Keen attention to detail is critical.
