We currently seek a Design Engineer to join our division located in Avon, CT, and help support our continued business growth.
Under the guidance of senior engineers, this position will specialize in the design and development of specialty fiber optic cables for diverse applications.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the design and development of specialty fiber optic cables tailored for specific applications, such as industrial, medical, aerospace, and telecommunications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand unique requirements and translate them into effective cable designs.
- Contribute to manufacturing process development
- Evaluate and select appropriate materials for cable construction, considering factors such as flexibility, durability, and performance in challenging environments.
- Conduct material testing to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
- Oversee the prototyping process, working closely with manufacturing teams to bring designs from concept to reality.
- Conduct comprehensive testing and analysis of prototype cables to validate performance and durability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication and alignment of design goals with project objectives.
- Provide support to internal teams and stakeholders, contributing to a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Engage in ongoing learning and development opportunities to enhance your understanding of fiber optic technology and cable design principles.
- Work closely with senior team members to expand your knowledge and skills in specialty cable design.
- Perform other related duties as required by management.
Key qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of work experience in Engineering.
- Eagerness to learn and grow in the field of fiber optics.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with LabVIEW, Microsoft Automation Tools, and Python
- Enthusiasm for working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
