OGDEN CITY MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN - AREA MAINTENANCE, PARKS & CEMETERY PAY GRADE
GRADE 7 $1,265.31 TO $1,897.97 (Bi-weekly Rate) (DOQ). Typically hire at minimum. This position is eligible for benefits.
AREA MAINTENANCE - MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN POSITION SUMMARY
To perform a variety of semi-skilled duties involved in the planning, care, and maintenance of major park and recreational facilities, and to perform specialized projects as required. Perform all aspects of turf management, mowing, line trimming, edging, aerating, fertilizing, pesticide treatments, overseeding, and sod replacement using a variety of application equipment and techniques. Perform all aspects of the repair and installation of irrigation systems. Provide care and maintenance of trees, shrubs, and flowers (i.e., planting, and proper pruning). Provide support for various special events. Receives general supervision from the Parks Area Maintenance Supervisor and direct functional supervision from the Parks Maintenance Crew Leader. Will be responsible for the Weber County Community Service Workers periodically and will carry out rules and policies associated with this program. Also, may serve as a field foreman over up to 6 crew members. May be required to direct the work of volunteers or people performing court ordered community service. Inspect City parks, playgrounds, and facilities to identify potentially hazardous conditions, maintenance and care needs. Assist in the minor repair and maintenance of equipment, vehicles, and tools. Remove graffiti and repairs damage from vandalism to City property. Clear snow off park sidewalks, and other City walkways, and facilities. Perform minor maintenance on snow removal equipment. Perform varying winter projects.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING STANDARDS FOR MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN - AREA MAINTENANCE
One year of experience in commercial turf/irrigation care and maintenance desired. Experience in flower bed design, installation, and maintenance desired. One year of building, grounds maintenance, sports turf management, trails maintenance experience, and supervisory or lead experience is desired. Training equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor qualification desired. Possession of or ability to obtain within 120 days a Utah State Class A CDL with tanker and air brake endorsements. Possession of or ability to obtain a Utah State Pesticide Category 3 Turf and Ornamental Applicators License within 6 months of hire.
