Ohio is a top tier U.S. Senate pick up opportunity for national Democrats because of retiring Republican incumbents. The battle to save the Senate majority will be fought in Ohio. 2022 offers the chance to take control of the Ohio Supreme Court, make gains under new legislative maps, and win control of state government constitutional including Governor/Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Treasurer, and Auditor. These opportunities give Democrats in Ohio early and strategic gains in rebuilding the Ohio Democratic Party.

About the Opportunity

The Ohio Democratic Party is seeking a talented, passionate professional who will be based in Ohio and conduct comprehensive research for the 2022 cycle and beyond. The research assistant will report directly to the research director and help hold Republican politicians accountable for the various ways they’ve betrayed Ohio voters. More specifically, the assistant will help conduct research on public records, news clips and other public sources to produce work products that will help inform Ohio media and voters across the state.

The research assistant will also assist the Research Director in managing the rapid response operation by assisting with fact checking research materials, media monitoring, vetting, handling information of a highly confidential nature, and working with the Research Director to achieve the goals of the entire Research Department.

Qualifications:

  • Outstanding written communication and analytical skills.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, be detail oriented and meet deadlines.
  • Applicants should possess a keen knowledge of the political process and political campaigns. Legal and/or previous research experience a plus.
  • Occasional travel around Ohio may be required and candidates should have a valid drivers license.
