What are the responsibilities and job description for the Harvest Supervisor position at Ohio Farms Packing?
Ohio Farms Packing Company is a growing family-owned and operated Veal and Lamb processing facility in Northeast Ohio. We are committed to Safety, Teamwork, and Continuous Improvement within our workforce. We are seeking out an experienced, detail-orientated and safety conscious Harvest Floor Supervisor for Day Shift to bring on board here in Creston, OH.
The ideal candidate has experience working in livestock, preferably red-meat, manufacturing settings. This candidate is able to communicate effectively in both Spanish and English, and has advanced leadership, administrative and managerial abilities.
This is not an office job – this is a working manager position.
Main Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:
- Lead all aspects of work related to the slaughter of veal and lamb – all humanely raised on local farms.
- Slaughter, skin, and eviscerate animals as scheduled.
- Wash, weigh, and label carcasses.
- Ensure Harvest floor maintains and complies with all USDA established policies and regulations regarding the human slaughtering of animals and animal welfare procedures.
- Utilize and maintain equipment in proper and safe working order.
- Organize records and reports with meticulous accuracy.
- Train staff in efficiency to preserve safety first, as well as proper techniques, food safety protocols, and standards.
- Sustain sanitization and maintenance of departmental areas.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance Management team to support a continuous improvement approach with food safety and quality assurance.
- Other duties discussed with Plant Manager
Main Qualifications, include but are not limited to:
- Strong communication skills with ability to speak Spanish and English to avoid safety risks.
- Champions quality and safety over all else and upholds standards and values modeling these behaviors for department.
- Able to effectively handle the stress, pace and demands of meat manufacturing setting.
- 5 years of Kill Floor/Harvest/Evisceration experience with knowledge of and demonstrated compliance to HACCP, quality assurance systems and procedures.
- 5 years of Butchery experience with solid knowledge of cutes of red meat.
- 5 years of Supervisory experience with strong administrative skills, and ability to train and lead those under you efficiently and effectively.
