The Researcher will design and manage complex scientific investigations in the laboratory of Deliang Guo, Ph.D., Director of the Center of Cancer Metabolism within the Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Ohio State University.
Research Focus:
The Guo laboratory focuses on cancer metabolism, signal transduction, autophagy, and miRNA across multiple cancer types, including brain tumors, lung cancer, liver cancer, sarcoma, and pancreatic cancer. The long-term goal of this research is to understand the underlying molecular mechanisms of how oncogenic signaling regulates metabolism reprogramming to promote tumor growth and to identify the key molecular targets to treat malignancies. His lab is dedicated to translational research, assessing molecular alterations in cancer patient tissues thus obtaining insights from patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and manage complex scientific investigations of tumor metabolism and oncogenic signaling pathways with the goal of developing novel therapies for cancer treatment
Collaborate with Principal Investigator (PI) to develop, manage and implement research projects across a variety of fields from microbiology to gene expression to metagenomics to transcriptomics
Extract, analyze, and evaluate experimental data
Develop and establish research controls and standards, including animal models (mouse)
Plan and write manuscripts, articles, abstracts, and research reports for publication in scientific journals
Investigate potential sources of funding and make recommendations to PI
Negotiate and oversee equipment service contracts and repairs
Provide training of research staff in executing new research methods
Minimum Education Required:
Doctoral Degree in biochemistry, biological sciences, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
Required Qualifications:
5 years of experience in biological/health science research capacity required.
Experience in a progressively responsible administrative capacity preferred.
Extensive experience planning amp; developing projects preferred.
Extensive knowledge and expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry, cancer biology, and animal models (mice) preferred.
