1. AA degree or comparable work experience at a technical level related to residential energy conservation analysis and residential construction.
2. Demonstrated experience in building construction and building renovation in a decision making capacity.
3. Working knowledge of Uniform Building Code and other residential construction codes (a plus).
4. Demonstrated experience in the residential or commercial energy field at a field/technical level (a plus) but required
5.Proficiency with energy modeling software (a plus).but not required
Evaluate the energy efficiency and health/safety components of a building. Gather data, conduct instrument tests and use energy modeling software to identify areas for savings and reduction of energy consumption, improve the safety, and increase the lifespan of the building; while improving the quality of life and comfort for the occupants. This position will report to the Housing Project Supervisor to receive approval to move a project forward in the multi-program department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Collect accurate and detailed information about the building in order to conduct the building pre-audit and complete audit;
2. Test the building using technical tools such as blower door, combustion safety equipment, infrared camera and other analytical skills and methodology;
3. Collect information on appliances, energy base-loads, building measurements, health and safety data, mechanical ventilation data, electrical and plumbing systems, building insulation (attic, walls and foundation), windows, doors and roof;
4. Evaluate the collected data from the testing and from the physical examination of the building components, mechanical systems, structure, physical condition and Environmental influences. This includes proficiency in entering empirical data into modeling software and interpreting the results;
5. Prepare a formal scope of work from the evaluation followed by an estimate of cost based on agency pricing;
6. Perform in-progress inspections with a final, formal inspection process similar to the audit process requiring excellent understanding of Program Specifications and Policies and Procedures;
7. Work closely with the Housing Program Manager and the Housing Project Supervisor during the process on technical, client files and fiscal issues;
8. Prepare reports as requested and participate with monitoring processes by regulatory agencies and grantors;
9. Other duties as assigned.
