- Ensure district compliance of federal, state, and local guidelines regarding advanced learners
- Prepare or oversee the preparation of all required reports, accreditation, and maintains appropriate records
- Coordinate the development, revision, and alignment of the gifted and talented curriculum
- Support schools, educational leaders, and teachers in the identification, assessment, and programming options of advanced learners
- Develop and conduct an ongoing evaluation of the gifted and talented program and implement changes based on the findings
- Support teachers in learning and implementing best practices for advanced learners
- Meet with school gifted and talented coordinators to assist in the coordination and improvement of school-based programs and services as well as develop innovative programming options and instructional strategies to attract and retain district students
- Coordinate the ordering and use of materials for advanced academic programs
- Develop strategies to increase enrollment in advanced courses and in the AVID program
- Support campuses with the implementation of advanced coursework and AVID
- Collaborate with AVID site coordinators and elective teachers to ensure students and staff are meeting program requirements
- Keep abreast of most current research and state/national information regarding advanced learners in order to lead the district in best practices
- Continue professional growth through self-directed, as well as defined professional development opportunities, which may include additional training, professional learning communities, outside research, and reading professional literature
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Master’s degree in gifted and talented, curriculum and instruction, or a related education field
- Valid Oklahoma teaching or administrative certificate
- Five (5) years of teaching experience at the elementary or secondary level (teaching experience at several levels and additional experience in instructional leadership is preferred)
- In-depth knowledge of best practices and current research in standards, curriculum, instructional practices and strategies, and a well-balanced assessment system
- Strong articulation, with exceptional oral and written communication skills, and the ability to adjust depending on the audience
- Promote a positive climate and culture for learning
- Flexible thinker and willingness to accept new ideas and constructive feedback for personal, professional, and program growth and development
- Take initiative, detailed oriented, and is highly organized
- Capable of working independently and prioritize tasks in a team-oriented and collaborative environment
- Possess strong leadership traits with the ability to lead people and provide direction
- Possess a valid driver's license and availability of private transportation to travel to sites
- Competency of appropriate computer skills and other related technologies
- May require some physical exertion
- Able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
- Exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer
- Ability to see and read street signs and printed material with or without vision aids
- Hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors, and on the telephone
- Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone
- Physical agility, able to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, and climb stairs, walk, run, and reach
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds

Position Summary:
Coordinate and oversee gifted and talented programming, advanced placement (AP), and AVID to ensure students’ instructional needs are met and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Work collaboratively with district- and site-level staff in developing, implementing, and monitoring advanced academic programs and services.
