Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director of Imaging Services, the Nuclear Prep Tech II will provide support for the department with clinic patient care. Depending on the clinic type, this may include assisting with patient flow, taking patient history and vitals, making patient prep calls, assisting with IV starts and with diagnostic testing, and maintenance of medical supplies.
- Operates under the direction of the Radiation Safety Officer/Authorized User
- Reports all radiation compliance/safety issues to RSO or Director of Imaging Services
- Properly verifies the intent of each requisition and/or order and prepares the appropriate radiopharmaceutical with no documented discrepancies or misadministrations
- Administers appropriate radiopharmaceuticals/pharmaceutical within guidelines and scope of practice
- Properly adjust dose and scan time to provide above standard image quality per scope of practice
- Demonstrates strict radiation safety measures in the protection of staff and patients at all times
- Maintains accurate records of radioisotope receipts, usage, storage, and disposal with the OK DEQ
- Perform general patient care
- Schedule appointments for patients as required
- Follow up on patient phone calls and concerns and document appropriately
- Nuclear (primary duties):
- Prepare patients for diagnostic testing
- Take patient history and vital signs
- Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for diagnostic testing
- Assist patients with ambulatory difficulties
- Explain testing procedures, medication, diet and follow up instruction to patients
Qualifications
Education: High School graduate or equivalent required, graduate of an accredited program
Licensure/Certification: Registered in Nuclear Medicine or registry eligible or LPN registered, BLS certification required
Experience: Six (6) months to one (1) year of continuous experience in a clinic setting preferred.
