Job Summary: | Work on a team as, or under a Foreman to gain finer construction experience. Make basic skill level general repairs to all interior and exterior portions of any building on campus that relates to the carpentry field. Change out knives, cutters, and blades to maintain shop equipment. Service, care, organization of shop, tools, and vehicles. Required to participate in snow/ice removal. Other duties as assigned which may include general helper to a Foreman of other trades. Hazards from power tools, hand tools, materials used, and environment. Procedures and precautions must be followed. Job requirements include occasional use of respiratory equipment. Incumbent will be required to pass a medical exam to ensure physical ability to wear, use and perform work in respirator equipment. |

Education & Experience | |
Position Qualifications: | Minimum Qualifications: High School/GED Three years of experience in general framing, interior framing, drywall, finish carpentry, cabinet making, concrete finishing, etc.; OR Two years of post-secondary education in the building trades or technical field with two years of the above experience in a university, commercial or industrial building maintenance organization. Have before hire, and maintain after hire, a valid driver's license. A valid driver's license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned. Highly developed powers of observation, good communication skills, ability to follow instructions closely, ability to work with very little supervision. Ability to access tight spaces to perform job, pass a respirator fit test and wear full face respirator for extended periods. Climb and/or work from stairs, ladders, scaffold, etc. for extended periods. Preferred Qualifications: Vocational/Technical training in Building Trades or Technical Field/Construction Four years of experience in general framing, interior framing, drywall, finish carpentry, cabinet making, concrete finishing, etc.; OR Two years of post-secondary education in the building trades or technical field with two years of the above experience in a university, commercial or industrial building maintenance organization. New construction experience using commercial materials, processes, and best practices. Vocational Carpentry training Vocational blueprint reading OSHA 10 Hour Ability to become proficient in the use of "AiM" computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology. |
