JOB SUMMARY:
Supervises the operation of the detention facility and coordinates the staff to ensure their safety and well-being of the inmates. Is responsible for the custody of all prisoners, maintaining their security during their time of incarceration and assuming responsibility for all their needs during detention.

RESPONSILBILITES:
-Manages, directs, and supervises the day-to-day operation of the jail facility.

-Maintains facility logs and records, schedules manpower, oversees inmate rule violations.

-Completes request for service building operations. Conducts walk-through facility inspection and prepares weekly report.

-Completes inmate rule violation reports, as necessary. Reviews all incident and shift reports. Reviews and answers or delegates prisoner request and grievances. Review's policies and procedures. Ensures a clean and safe living area for inmates. Completes and/or acts on unacceptable performance notices and communicates all information.

-Responsible for custody and control of inmates, their physical movement, and all of their needs. For the security of facilities, records, logs, keys, all property of the Authority and inmates.

-Directly supervise security staff and inmates on the shift in the performance of their duties and evaluate as prescribed by facility policy. This includes training new employees; listening to complaints and effectively resolving disputes or problems; taking corrective or disciplinary action; developing work schedules subordinates; monitoring post assignments; approving leave requests; and preparing inmate work assignments.

-Communicate effectively and coherently to administration, staff, inmates, visitors and general public, particularly in situations requiring tact, diplomacy, understanding, fairness, firmness and good judgment. This includes giving information, instructions and directions, mediating disputes, advising of rights and processes, and providing reliable testimony in court and other formal settings.

-Read and comprehend legal and non-legal documents, including the processing of such documents as medical instructions, commitment orders, summons and other legal writs.

-Review, process and respond (via agency counsel) to lawsuits and provide any related facility records; attend court and administrative hearings, when necessary.

-Conduct inspections of all housing and general use areas to ensure that proper standards, facility operating procedures and corporate guidelines of security, health, safety, sanitation and welfare are maintained; direct staff and inmate resources to correct problems detected.

SKILLS:
-Skill in administrating the jail facility; supervising others in application of jail security techniques and maintaining security of inmates, ability to plan, organize and control the work of others, and posses basic typing and report writing abilities.

- Knowledge of principles and practices of jail operation, sociology and psychology, State, Federal, County and City regulations; and departmental policies and procedures.

- Knowledge of inter‑departmental correspondence, departmental policies, rules and regulations, security techniques, jail records, and detention operation procedures.

- Ability to gain respect and cooperation of others, to remain alert and vigilant, exercise initiative and independent judgment, understand and follow oral and written instructions, and deal tactfully with others.

- Ability to reason analytically; interpret policies and make operational judgments and organize and present facts and opinions clearly and concisely.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

- Associate’s degree in corrections, law enforcement, criminal justice, quality assurance, or related field,

- Five years of progressive management experience,

- Current, or can become current in training standards required by the Oklahoma Jail Standards administered by the State Health Department.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $36.74 per hour
