Job Summary:
We welcome you to join the Oncology team as a Medical Assistant. You will be responsible for promoting and restoring patient's health by collaborating with physicians and team members; and providing physical and psychological support to patients and their families. Minimum Requirements:
- High School or GED Minimum
- Previous Healthcare Experience Preferred
- American Heart Association CPR BLS Minimum Upon Hire
- Other: Medical Assisting Program Preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule patients for testing procedures. Check appointment schedules and assists receptionists with physician's patients' schedules.
- Escorts patients to exam room. Assists patients in the patient flow through the lab, nursing, and/or x-ray department. Prepares exam rooms and instruments for examination and testing. Routinely monitors and maintains adequate supplies designated necessary to ensure appropriate functioning of designated work area.
- Maintains current working knowledge of managed care plan requirements to assist with managed care referrals pre-certification requirements or laboratory reference testing. Schedules appointments and/or assist with referrals as needed.
- Instructs patients in collection of samples and test. Labels and maintains proper storage of specimens and tests. Delivers test(s) and obtains results. Ensures that lab reports, x-ray and other information are in patient's records. Arranges for age-specific patient testing and admissions. Post test and examination results. Assists patient and family regarding medications, treatments or other educational needs.
