POSITION TITLE: Para II - Audiology Para Sub8/7/23
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Special Services/Heartland Early Childhood Center
STATUS: Classified – Non-Exempt
HOURS OF WORK: hours vary
STARTING SALARY: $16.25 hourly
POSITION SUMMARY: This position assists with audiology screenings at district school locations. Training on hearing screening tools is provided. Experience is welcome but not necessary. The "home base" for this position is Heartland Early Childhood Center.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Hearing Screening paras work as a team to provide hearing screenings for students in early childhood programs and K-10th grade. Paras will be trained on the use of a portable audiometer, basic anatomy/hearing system and how to perform audiometric screenings. These screenings will include traditional testing as well as conditioned play audiometry depending on the student's needs. Team members will work Monday-Thursday August thru January.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: the usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions frequently requires the following physical demands: running, walking, sitting, standing, lifting 80 lbs floor to waist, carrying up to 55 lbs, pushing and/or pulling; climbing and balancing, reaching forward and overhead, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity.
