What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Co-Teacher for the 24/25 school year position at OLD MISSION PENINSULA SCHOOL?
Old Mission Peninsula School is searching for a Pre-school co-teacher who will be responsible for the education & enrichment of preschool students.
Must demonstrate the ability to communicate and work effectively and collaboratively with professional peers and parents, adapt and plan for individual student needs and learning styles, and to evaluate, measure, and monitor various forms of assessments and data.
Reports To: Pre-School Director & School Principal
Responsibilities - Under Direction of the Program Director:
-The Co-Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing the daily program for children, supervises the class when the Lead is out of the room, helps with meals, safety and assists in maintaining a clean and orderly room and Center.
-Shows empathy and compassion for young children
-Ensures the daily care of every child by following all licensing guidelines and implementing all company standards, help to maintain a fun and interactive classroom that is clean and organized
-Candidate must maintain a caring atmosphere by building positive relationships with students and families
-Duties include classroom support, recess duty, and rest support
-Cleaning duties as outlined in the classroom cleaning checklist
-Must have the ability to move about the classroom/building and school property, including bending, pushing/pulling, lifting, twisting, climbing, stooping, or crouching to complete work-related tasks with and without students
-Must have:
-Appropriate communication to other staff members, children, parents, etc.
-Collaboration: Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions
-Continuing education including classes, conferences, workshops, and in-services to enhance the knowledge and understanding of teaching
Qualifications:
-High School Education (or higher) Commitment to ongoing professional development
Associate degree (AA) in early childhood education or child development or equivalent; or a valid classroom CDA credential
-Employees in this position must possess reliable transportation and a valid Michigan driver license
-Respect for young children and a passion for their social, emotional, and intellectual development
-Successful clearance of FBI background checks, and iCHAT (State Police)
-Valid TB Test
-Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations
Required:
- Criminal background check including fingerprinting required
- Unprofessional Conduct Check from current/most recent employer
Preschool Required (in addition to above):
- Additional background check
- TB Test
- 8 hours online training (paid by school)
- Additional onsite training & documentation
