What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Business Development (Hybrid) position at Old Republic Surety Company?
In general, the Director of Business Development serves as a strategic resource to the field and supports the development of business opportunities throughout the organization.
Essential duties for the role are as follows:
- Serve as a resource and provide exceptional customer service to the field, including timely and thorough review of field reviews and requests, business plan assistance, and budgeting.
- Monitor and develop growth strategies for top tier and high potential agents and brokers. Identify and develop additional tier agents and brokers for future productive partnerships.
- Provide data mining of various internal and external data sources for the purpose of monitoring premium progress, identifying development and business opportunities, and pinpointing best practices and success stories to share throughout the field and organization.
- Maintain involvement with industry and surety-related associations and organizations, including, but not limited to NASBP, SFAA, IIAB, PIA, CFMA, ACG, and ABC.
- Assist in the recruitment and selection of field positions.
- Coordinate real estate leases and renewals, office moves, equipment purchases, and other field logistical issues as necessary.
- Assist in the coordination of and participation in regional and national meetings for field leadership and staff.
- Manage and maximize usage of CRM (Salesforce) and other business development and underwriting tools, such as Dodge Data Analytics. Ensure fluency of tools with all parties who may benefit from their usage.
- Participate in regular travel. Travel is including, but not limited to, attending agency visits to maintain current business and/or obtain additional business, participating in industry specific events, and meeting with prospective business partners.
- Other duties as assigned.
Working as a Director of Business Development requires one to work independently and effectively within a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Windows and Office products is necessary. Other skills necessary include excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational and accurate proofreading skills, the ability to maintain accurate records, the ability to exercise discretion with confidential information, strong attention to detail, and the ability to use a variety of office equipment.
This position requires one to possess and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
