What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cook I position at Olgoonik Development?

Overview:

Prepares food and serves customers at the grill station in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines and regulations, with our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by management to assure that quality food service is provided at all times.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 5:30am-2:00pm. No weekends.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Takes orders from customer and prepares items requiring short preparation. May complete orders from steam tables and serves customers at multiple stations.
  • Serves customers in an efficient and friendly manner following established steps of service, meeting outlined standards and ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty. Tastes all food items prepared.
  • Use established ticket collection procedures during service. Responsible for records from area worked during service periods.
  • Utilizes approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control.
  • Carries pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from workstations, stove, and refrigerator in compliance with established safety standards.
  • Properly stores foods in designated areas following standard wrapping, dating, and food safety and rotation procedures.
  • Cleans, sanitizes and maintains all assigned work areas, equipment and utensils to ensure sanitation standards are met.
  • Resolves customer concerns. Reports relevant information and concerns to supervisor.
  • Attend in-service and/or safety meetings as required.
  • Work effectively and maintain good working relationships with co-workers, customers, administrators, and Managers.
  • Perform job safely while maintaining a clean and safe work environment and following correct procedures at all times.
  • Perform other functions and duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Each candidate must have a strong work ethic and be able to self-manage at times when volume is high. At times inventory and pos system knowledge will be necessary to support management.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred; or 6 months to 1 year of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

MRPT Level Required

  • Must be able to successfully complete a U.S. government administered investigation for an MRPT (Moderate Risk Public Trust).

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

This is a cafeteria work environment. All staff must be presentable to customers in a front of house setting where the kitchen is exposed. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
