ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Answers phones, schedules patient appointments
- Handles all correspondences by phone, mail, fax, and electronic communications
- Rooms patients, takes and records patient vitals
- Performs point of care testing, injections, medication administration
- Assists clinician with examinations/procedures
- Prepares exam rooms with necessary supplies and equipment and takes inventory of the practices’ supply needs
- Completes necessary patient-specific paperwork as per practice needs
- Ensures the electronic medical record (EMR) is up-to-date with all pertinent results and documentation in preparation for next visit
- Handles patient call backs relaying information per the direction of provider
- Performs cleaning of medical equipment per practice needs
- Handles prior authorizations, referrals, and medication refills
- Schedules tests, procedures as per practice needs
- Handles payments and appropriate documentation
- Performs copay and eligibility verification for patient encounters
- Scribes patient encounters with the clinician as necessary
- Assess and stocks inventory of office and medical supplies
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Certified Medical Assistant
- High School Graduate or Equivalent
Qualification Requirements:
- Positive and professional attitude
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task and set priorities
- Excellent professional English verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build and foster professional relationships in a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and patient management software
- Proficiency in Internet and computer technology skills, including use of the electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management (PM) systems
- Proficiency in typing at least 50 words per minute
- Effective use of medical terminology
- Knowledge and awareness of policies and procedures
- Effective problem solving, critical thinking, planning, and decision-making skills
- Able to handle stressful or difficult situations
- Dependability and initiative as a member of a team
- Ability to interact with diverse groups of patients, members of the public, and other health care providers
