Trademark Paralegal

Olive and Olive, P.A., an Intellectual Property law firm in Durham, NC, is seeking a full-time Paralegal in its Trademark & Copyright group. Candidates need to be experienced working on U.S. and international trademarks, the Madrid Protocol, the TEAS system, and Internet-based research. Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as familiarity with a variety of information management and communication software and docketing systems are essential. The ability to manage a wide variety of concurrently active projects, from beginning to completion, in a fast-paced environment, keeping ahead of frequent deadlines, is critical to success in this position.

Position can be REMOTE, but candidate must live in North Carolina.

Qualifications:

· Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a paralegal, working substantially with trademarks, including full familiarity with all aspects of trademark work

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat

· Strong working knowledge of the USPTO website and filing systems

· Experience with state trademarks, copyright management, contract drafting and internet domain management would be a plus

· Ability to communicate and manage information effectively

Responsibilities:

· Draft and file trademark applications and maintenance documents with the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office, WIPO and North Carolina Secretary of State's Office and copyright applications and recordation filings with the U.S. Copyright Office

· Monitor and manage official communications and prosecution progress for applications and maintenance filings with the U.S., state and foreign trademark registries and the U.S. Copyright Office

· Communicate with foreign associates regarding actions in foreign countries

· Keep attorneys and clients informed on deadlines, status of preparations, and handle all interim communications

· Manage and calendar progress and deadlines of all work

· Research potential trademark specimen material and other evidence and work with clients to obtain suitable filing form

· Order U.S. and international trademark searches

· Draft, and proofread for accuracy, internal and outgoing communications

· Manage domain name and Trademark Clearinghouse registrations

· Handle time entry and observance of client billing and budgeting requirements
