Role: Editorial Writer
Location: Newbury, England, United Kingdom /Thatcham (Onsite x5 days per week)
ROLE MISSION
Based at the client site in Newbury with the British Army, the Editorial Writer will play a crucial role in defining narratives through scripts, and creating short, exciting copy for social media as well as long format copy in a more journalistic style. A large part of the role will be enhancing video content, and ensuring high-quality and engaging copy that aligns with the client’s brand standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for detail and the ability to write best-in-class copy, alongside developing persuasive narratives and scripts. An understanding of video production and social media is a plus. You will work on a wide range of creative projects delivering high-quality written work to aid in audience engagement and education. The role will involve working shoulder to shoulder in true partnership with our client with the intent to counteract misinformation and propaganda that is deemed harmful.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING IN YOUR ROLE
- To support the planning, creation, and delivery of high-quality written work in support of operationally-lead narratives and content requirements. Proofing, editing, and writing material in support of online content creation is essential.
- Develop compelling and creative copy for various communication materials, including online content, social media posts and video scripting.
- Collaborate with the team to understand target audiences, brand voice, and campaign objectives, ensuring the copy aligns with the overall strategy.
- Adapt writing style and tone based on the specific platform and target audience, tailoring content to suit various channels and media.
- Craft clear, concise, and persuasive copy that communicates key messages effectively and engages the target audience.
- Edit and proofread copy to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand guidelines, maintaining a high standard of quality.
- Stay up-to-date with best practices in copywriting, marketing, and advertising to continuously improve skills and contribute innovative ideas.
- Collaborate with designers and video editors to ensure copy and visuals work harmoniously to create impactful campaigns.
- Meet frequent, short deadlines and deliver high-quality work at speed
WHAT SKILLS WILL HELP YOU BE SUCCESSFUL
- A passion for copy, narrative and storytelling
- Excellent writing and editing skill set
- Ability to take ownership of projects from concept through to completion
- Consistent record of taking on, interpreting and delivering design projects within agreed deadlines
- Articulate the rationale for your work, challenge assumptions, negotiate changes and advocate best practice; essentially create ‘bomb-proof’ work
- Engage confidently with stakeholders to understand a brief, quiz them for detail (i.e. legal) needed to produce great content
- Initiative, decision making, creative thinking, curiosity, performance mindset
- Resilient and able to deal with changing priorities
