Olivia's Market in Bucktown/Wicker Park is hiring a cheese buyer for our small (in overall store footprint) but mighty (in sales) cheese program. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with food and beverage knowledge, a focus in all things dairy, who will be enthusiastic about the success of our independent and family-owned grocer. Excellent customer service and working with urgency are key to this role. Cleanliness, organization and a positive attitude are also essential traits!
This position oversees our cheese and specialty dairy selection, cheese case inventory management, pricing, and P&L. We have a streamlined selection catering to our guests who may need shredded parm one day and a specialty brie for their cheeseboard the next.
This role is part-time with room to grow if interested in overhauling our deli, prepared foods, and other specialty food options throughout the cold case. We hope to find someone looking to grow a department from the ground up, come with fresh ideas and excited to take our cheese case to the next level.
Responsibilities Include:
1. Vendor Relationships
2. Managing orders, deliveries, case inventory and backstock
3. Holiday planning and weekly forecasting
4. Coordinating with our lead grocery buyer on cross-merchandising opportunities
5. Inputting new items into POS and updating pricing from weekly invoices
6. Current on industry standards, trends and where the category is headed next
Role Requirements:
1. Must be able to stand on feet for 8 hours.
2. Must be able to lift 40lbs.
3. Must have current ServSafe certification - or willing to acquire.
Preferred Experience:
1. Retail and/or Restaurant experience
2. Past Buyer desired though not required
