Logistics Shipping Coordinator

Job Summary:

Under general direction, the Shipping Coordinator is accountable for managing Omaha Steaks freight shipments supporting the various business groups. This includes, but not limited shipping modes such as truckload (TL), less-than-truckload (LTL), specialized, intermodal, and export freight shipments. Individual will be responsible for effective communication with 3rd party vendors coordinating freight to various Customer/Vendor/ & Omaha Steaks locations. They will serve as a liaison between the logistics team, production, & sales team providing timely resolution to any transportation issues and concerns.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinates with various internal business groups such as procurement, production, inventory control, distribution, and the sales group to efficiently ship freight domestically and globally
• Coordinates with external vendors, customers, carriers, and 3PL to effectively move LTL and TL freight from Omaha Steaks locations
• Operates various in-house software programs to process customer orders allowing seamless workflow between procurement, production, inventory control, distribution, and the sales group
• Structure agreements with carriers & 3PL brokers meeting our insurance requirements
• Obtain bids, tender loads, and track TL and LTL shipments with approved transportation partners
• Account & code invoices, maintain various reporting documents that track KPIs and budgetary reports that support the overall Omaha Steaks shipping group
• Support project management assignments from the Supply Chain Manager
• Performs all other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• 4 year college degree or equivalent
• 2 years' experience in logistics coordination with a transportation background
• Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Applications
• Self- starter with ability to see a project through
• Strong planning and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Problem solver with critical thinking skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Time management skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
• Reliable- willing to work various hours to ensure all shipping related issues are addressed in a timely manner
• Ability to adapt and be flexible when issues arise
