Ombud engineering is continually looking for passionate software engineers who value maintainable, scalable, high quality software solutions and enjoy working within an agile team of developers, product managers and product designers to deliver new features, services, and improvements to our product.
In this role, you will be a core member of the engineering team ensuring we ship the highest quality solutions to our customers. Your role will encompass the full software development lifecycle and you will work with all roles within our product organization (Developers, Product Management, DevOps). As an SRE at Ombud you'll be responsible for the overall reliability of our production infrastructure, along with the development of our CI/CD process and the development of our monitoring, alerting and logging solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Run our infrastructure with Terraform, Kubernetes and scripting languages (bash, python)
- Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large distributed software applications
- Improve the deployment process to make it as simple as possible. Deployments should be a non-event.
- Design, build and maintain core infrastructure pieces that allow Ombud to efficiently scale our applications in tandem with our user growth
- Debug production issues across services and levels of the stack
- Manage the day to day needs of our cloud infrastructure
- Build new processes and tooling to automate as many tasks as possible
- Be a voice to help the growth path for Ombud's infrastructure
Qualifications
- 3 years supporting highly scalable web applications
- Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (Python, Go, JavaScript, etc…)
- Ability to diagnose technical problems, debug code, and automate routine tasks with languages like Python and Bash
- Experience optimizing production systems for performance, quality, and reliability
- Experience building, managing, and monitoring CI/CD pipelines
- Ability to apply systems thinking to our infrastructure to uncover the root cause of reliability issues
- You approach all solutions with security in mind
- Experience with cloud infrastructure providers (we use AWS at Ombud)
- Experience with data systems (Postgres, Elasticsearch, etc...)
- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible)
- Experience with containerization is a huge plus

- Compensation: $115,000 - $130,000 (If this does not fit in your range we would still be interested in speaking with you as we have a number of open opportunities as we continue to grow)
