POSITION SUMMARY: Develops and implements goals and objectives to support the organization in the changing health care environment. Utilizes and provides direction in the nursing process, standards development process, performance improvement process and the allocation of resources within established reimbursement parameters. Manages and oversees unit human resources. Maintains clinical competency in professional nursing practice.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION: The eligible candidate will have completed an accredited School of Nursing and possesses a current Pennsylvania and Maryland RN license with no restrictions or actions taken against the license. The candidate must also possess CPR certification, ACLS certification, and surgical, critical care, or same day surgery experience. The candidate must also possess one (1) year of full-time, or the equivalent of full-time supervisory experience in an ambulatory surgery or acute care setting.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Familiarity with personal computer and ancillary equipment, telephone, billing computer system, copier, and fax. Able to use Microsoft office software including Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical insurance processing, and medical procedure and diagnostic codes, particularly those related to surgical specialty of facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
§ Demonstrates a thorough understanding of state and federal rules, regulations and standards governing the operations of an ambulatory surgical facility.
§ Assists in the development and implementation of the patient care delivery system.
§ Demonstrates clinical expertise in the execution of the nursing process, adhering to the process and structure standards of the Surgical Center.
§ Conducts defined quality improvement initiatives and implements interventions as appropriate.
§ Initiates modifications and changes in caregiver practice patterns to maximize quality patient care and efficient resource utilization.
§ Communicates with family and health care professionals regarding patient outcomes.
§ Assesses efficiency and cost-effectiveness of efforts related to patient management and process improvements.
§ Maintains appropriate inventory for intended surgical procedures, both supplies and equipment.
§ Participates with support services to promote a safe, clean environment, as evidenced by customer responses and regulatory inspections.
§ Fosters a customer-focused environment for patients, visitors and members of the health care team.
§ Assumes role of patient advocate to address the patient’s biophysical, psychosocial and cultural needs as evidenced by observation and through feedback of others.
