Job Description
The Bartender is responsible for delivering excellence in guest service by developing relationships with guests, providing personalized service, anticipating and delivering guests’ needs. The Bartender comprehends the cocktail / beverage menus, prepares drinks as requested by our guests and serves drinks to our guests either directly or via service staff.
Responsibilities
- Working knowledge of the hospitality business.
- Serve properly mixed and proportioned drinks, in a timely manner, to guests and servers
- Upselling and suggestive selling of both food and beverage to guests.
- Requisition and restock bar with all essential products and equipment.
- Monitor environment in room (temperature, lighting, music, televisions).
- Observe and adhere to all liquor liability laws.
- Check identification of guests ensuring alcohol is served only to those patrons of legal drinking age.
- Monitor the intake of alcohol of guests, prohibiting sale of alcohol to those who are intoxicated.
- Communicate with guests and respond to feedback in a positive manner, resolving any service issues
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor and composure at all times.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of mixology, beverage garnishes and overall beverage service to include liquor, beer and wine knowledge
- Minimum of 1 – 2 years relevant bartending experience.
- Highly developed customer service skills; possessing a friendly approachable demeanor and strong problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proven ability to engage guests at all levels. Must be passionate about providing warm, engaging and personalized service.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to handle multiple priorities.
- Must possess the ability to handle stressful and busy hotel operations.
- Willing to work flexible hours as needed during busy times and high-profile events, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Computer literacy to include: Micros, POS systems.
- Previous cash handling experience.
- Unexpired TIPs certification required
- Able to lift and carry 30 pounds routinely, and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills. Candidate must be comfortable speaking to guests. Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate both verbally and in writing in English with guests, management, and co-workers.
